I was going to have a vote as to which cheap or free horse is the best deal.  We can still do that, they are all added in the Challenge post, but I think it may be difficult as we all have our own disciplines, favor certain breeds, etc.

We did prove there are a lot of decent horses for very little money, or free, out there.  From all areas of the country, green or schoolmaster, and many different breeds.  I was actually surprised at the amount of horses going for under $500 who were broke, still sound and serviceable, if not fancy.

Anyways, lets go to it, vote in the comments 🙂

I have to go with the leopard App, soft spot (lol) for Appys and I don’t mind dealing with green or spooky.

I'm a happy camper 95% of the time, I love animals and kids....and some adults. I believe in Karma and am a spiritual and moral person. Bad people may gain in this world but they are still bad.... I have many interests, including horses, birds, growing my own food, art, writing, the Runes....yes, it is all over the map. I feel some of us are here to care for those who are not cared for by those who should care for them-if that makes any sense ;-)

This is going to be tough! I am going to eliminate an obvious winner, the Saddlebred colt because he was found at a rescue. I will also eliminate my entry, to make it more fair, the palomino, even though I think he can win. Don’t let the fact that he’s free influence you, we have a glut of horses in my area and it’s not unusual to find a horse offered for free that needs expensive supplements or shots to stay sound. Next is the running Quarter, he looks like he may be long in the back, next the appy, only because he’s spooky and not broke, next the arabian mare. I couldn’t see her age, but I just don’t like the look of her legs.

Which leaves the 3 thoroughbreds. I pick the bright bay 16.1 TB gelding with chrome, partly because of the picture, we can see more of him, also he seems to have the most potential.

I would still pick my Arabian, because I love endurance distance racing. Seriously, if you love camping and trail riding on steroids-so fun! I agree about her legs, not enough bone. Barring her, I think I would go with the App if I wanted a project and potential, the 19 yr old Thoroughbred if i didn’t want to compete but just enjoy the trails. Depends what you want to do.
